Who's eligible to participate in the competition?
Middle and high school students who identify as girls, or non-binary students comfortable being grouped with girls, may participate.
If you don't identify as such, visit Resources for other ways you can get involved in math competitions, or Get Involved for other opportunities to help out.
What math do I need to know to compete?
None - INTEGIRLS competitions are designed to be fun and accessible for students of all math levels. No prior experience with math competitions is necessary. Even if you're really unsure about your math ability, at least come for the free pizza!
Does it cost money to participate?
No, the competition is completely free. If there are any monetary barriers that may stop you from participating, contact miami@integirls.org for possible support.
How will I get to the University of Miami, for in-person events?
INTEGIRLS Miami will not provide transportation to the event, but students can set up carpool with other students on our discord server. If transportation is a significant barrier to you or your students' participation, please contact us at miami@integirls.org for possible support.
Drop Off:
See the UM Parking Map for options. From Lot 504 or Memorial Drive it is especially convenient to get to Shalala Student Center.
The competition will take place in the Donna E Shalala Student Center in the Activities Room.
Parking:

Unfortunately, parking at UM is not free. You can buy an all-day pass for $11 on the UM Parking Portal or use PayByPhone. The hourly rate is $2.50.
There is free parking directly across from UM (five minute walk) in the shopping center wth Starbucks/Ohho Noodles Market as well as at Ponce de Leon Middle School.
UM provides helpful information on how to drop off/park at the Student Center from various locations in Miami here.
How can I prepare?
No preparation is needed for the competition, but if you wish to do so, a great way to learn more about competition math is to do practice problems! Here is a compilation of links of past INTEGIRLS tests and competitions like the AMC 8/10, which our problems are modeled after:
Who will I be participating with?
The Fall 2024 Competition will bring together middle and high school students from all over South Florida! Middle schoolers and high schoolers will have separate tests and be scored separately. Teams can be chosen during registration, and are up to four people with no limit to the number of teams a school can register. If students do not have a team to register with, or their team is less than four people, they will be combined with other students.
